Speaking of which, does anyone know what will go in where the Mexican restaurant was located next to Martin's and beside this hotel?   It's a terrific spot for another restaurant given all the new hotels in the proximity.

That site is owned by Fresh Hospitality and they will put something in there at some point. My feeling is that they may be getting stretched a little this as they have had two failures in Germantown and are working on Hunters Station. I don't know, but all signs indicate we are oversaturated with eateries in some areas of town and too many overpriced eateries in a lot of areas. 

The average tourist tend to stay away from higher priced places unless the are very locally unique. I can sort of say that  just based on my experience traveling. I don't mind paying for something a little on the pricier side if its good, but folks we have just too many places like that here.

The food hall will be a perfect fit for Lower Broadway as that will be in the price range of the average Country Joe visiting from Podunk,  Al., or Nowhere ,KY.

I try not to eat downtown any more simply because its a zoo most of the time.

BTW  and off topic,I did a walk Saturday night downtown for the first time in a long time and the only thing that was missing was the topless bars and voodoo shops and I would have thought I was in the French Quarter.

I agree with the need for more moderate priced food options. One problem is that the rents are so high, especially in the new buildings (SoBro), only pricey restaurants can go in.  Until some lessons are learned, and rents become more realistic, this pattern will continue.

Places like Peabody and the cafe at the MCC are pretty busy with construction workers and I would imagine tourists would enjoy places like this if they were not off the beaten path.  I really think we need a place like this in ATL:  https://peachtreecenter.com/dine-shop/
