My boyfriend and I took a trip down to the Cape this weekend to visit my family. I took way too many pictures along the way, here's some of them...

Woods Hole

My boyfriend is a big fan of the film Jaws, which was filmed on Martha's Vineyard. We are trying to plan a trip to the Vineyard later this summer, in the meantime we took a ride down to Woods Hole so we could look across Vineyard Sound and at least see the island.

Woods Hole, Martha's Vineyard, and Nantucket Steamship Authority pier in Woods Hole. This is the auto ship to Martha's Vineyard. The crossing takes about a half hour.

Downtown Woods Hole. Woods Hole is a village at the extreme southwestern tip of Cape Cod. It is part of the Town of Falmouth, bordered by Buzzards Bay to the west and Vineyard Sound to the south and east. Woods Hole is best known as the home to Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute, and Robert Ballard, who found the wreck of the Titanic.

Further up the coast towards Falmouth Heights along the Shining Sea Bikepath, this used to be a rail connection from Boston to the ferry at Woods Hole.

Cotuit

Cotuit is the village I grew up in, hence my username. It is a village in the Town of Barnstable, located on the south coast of The Cape.

The Cotuit Grocery Company, AKA The Coop. Unfortunately they are renovating, so it looks like crap.

The Kettle Ho, a restaurant on Main Street, so named because it is said that settlers bought the village from the Wampanoag's for a kettle and a ho.

Hyannis

Hyannis is known as the Hub of the Cape. It is the business centre of the Cape and the centre of the 222,000 person metropolitan area. The nearby village of Hyannisport was the location of President Kennedy's Summer White House, the Kennedy Compound.

Chart House Village, a not very successful New Urbanism development, part of the problem, it is surrounded by parking lots. This area is about 20-25 years old. The village is making strides to densify and mix development, so hopefully this area will be revisited soon.

On the Bay

On Sunday we went out on my uncle's boat spending the day on Cotuit Bay.

We had to head out of the bay to empty the head. My cousin is following us in his new boat.

Took some pictures of the houses I want to buy when I win the Megabucks. These homes are on a private island called Oyster Harbors, part of the village of Osterville.
