Dallas Cowboys to get $650 MILLION stadium!

The first precast concrete risers that will form the seating bowl were installed yesterday. It total, about 3,000 risers will be installed. Construction on the new stadium is 25% complete and on schedule to open for the 2009 season.

Looks like Jerry wasn't able to land the Red River Shootout. It will be announced today that the annual game between Texas and Oklahoma will remain at the Cotton Bowl through 2015.

The City of Dallas is spending $30 million approved in a bond issue last November for seating expansion to more than 92,000 plus other improvements. The State Fair of Texas has spent $20 million in improvements (new scoreboards and seating) at the Cotton Bowl.

I drove by the construction site on I-30 today and I was amazed at the sheer size of the thing. Also, I was surprised at how close it is to the Ballpark at Arlington (I'll always call it that, no matter who has naming rights)...for some reason, I had thought there was greater distance between the two.

The NCAA announced yesterday the host sites for upcoming Final Four basketball tournament with the new Cowboys stadium hosting in 2014.

Other events that the stadium has landed:
