Looks nice. It appears that they have a solid team behind this project in terms of designers. Craig Gaulden Davis does great work around the state, including the Florence, Anderson, and Greenville main Libraries, the Peace Center for the Performing Arts, Greenville County Museum of Art, etc etc etc.

Renovations are underway, full steam ahead.

Looks like there will be a slight change with the facade of the building. It was thought that it was composed of brick and limestone, but it's cast stone instead. It was also installed differently than indicated on the original documents and removing it is going to be unsafe for construction workers, so the cast stone pieces on the front facade will have to be totally removed and replicated. Also, the original lettering "Columbia Township Auditorium" will also have to replicated if it cannot be salvaged.

Here's the latest on the Township renovations from WLTX. Back in the day, people drove from all over SC, even before interstate, to see big name entertainment at the TS. They are cutting no corners in bringing it back to top status.

No pics, no camera, but I ride past it every day. They have the front windows in with pitched gables over them. They're getting close to putting in the new columns.

The new marquee is up. It's detached, as most marquees are these days, and doesn't fit the dictionary definition of "marquee."

Here's an update on the renovations from The State. The lobby's floor-to-ceiling glass will remind guests that they are downtown with a "wow factor" view of the skyline.

A newly renovated Township helped Columbia lure the 2011 Miss SC Pageant away from longtime host, Spartanburg Memorial Auditorium. The pageant is expected to account for 1,500 hotel room nights and generate $630,000 for the local economy according to Jason Outman, director of sales for the Columbia Metropolitan Convention & Visitors Bureau.
