Bell South Building Sold

The Business Journal reports that the Bell South building was sold last May for $91million. That is about $83 a foot. The sale was not announced publicly. The buyer also recently purchased the Plaza Hotel in NYC. Not much significant details appeared in the article otherwise. The building is 92% occupied.

You will remember that the Sun Trust (formerly Humana) building sold recently as well as the Aetna building and the Wachovia building. I'm not sure what all these sales mean, but it will probably result in updated tax values for the city. Therefore, more tax money to support Downtown Vision and the city's general fund.

The Biz! column mentioned Charlotte's unhappiness with not getting the ACC Championship. Let's get out our violins everyone. It stated further than Charlotte will try to get the game to rotate in the future, to include them of course.

There's been alot of building exchanges and sales going on lately. BTW, has Suntrust put its name on the old Humana building yet? I recall the Humana letters being taken down.

The letters for SunTrust are up and are there going to be any changes to the Bellsouth tower.

The BellSouth building is 80% leased to BellSouth. The new owners will attempt to market and lease the remaining available space.
