Mass Transit Planning Can't Be Done Piecemeal

Concentrating on I-94 corridor ignores the total transportation needs of far-flung Metro Detroit

A $3 million feasibility study of mass transit along Interstate 94 is another piecemeal effort that underscores a wider problem: Metro Detroit has no regional transportation plan.

Amid tiresome factionalism, neither the governor nor state lawmakers nor regional leaders have had the guts to set up a regional transit authority with teeth and an income stream.
