With all the talk I've heard lately I thought the Hispanic population would have been into the teens by now, especially in Atlanta.

Perhaps the bulk of hispanic migration is not occuring in the cities themselves.

Based on these statistics alone, Charlotte seems to be the most diverse.

^Yeah i think most in the burbs as for racial diversity Charlotte does look like the most diverse but as for ethnic diversity that might be a different story?

Are there any Southern cities where a high percentage of the populous is Asian?

college towns tend to have a high number of asians, mostly chinese grad students.

Orlando attracts a high number of vietnamese.

Miami has quite a few asians of all persuasions, but not a real "chinatown".

Houston has a large vietnamese population as well.

I don't have any numbers for these though... maybe heckles can look it up.

edit:

So I looked some of them up...

They're not as asian as I thought, at least not in the city proper.

% Asian

Orlando 2.7%

Houston 5.3%

Gainsville, FL 4.5%

Athens, GA 3.1%

Chapel Hill, NC 7.1%

So would have I. I see quite a few of them pretty much everyday. The only thing I can think of is that most of them are scattered throughout the suburbs instead of the city of Miami itself.

Maybe I'll look up metro-numbers if I get the energy.
