I don't know why, but I never realized how close the BC, Commerce, and Lafayette were. Or, I should say, how much adandonment they create in that part of downtown. It really does feel like a hole devoid on life in that area. West of Woodward really does need some help, as it doesn't have a Greektown or Bricktown or Harmonie Park-type neighborhood, and I mean in vibrancy.

refer to the other thread about the extra funding for the already approved plans for both BC and Fort Shelby...the funding seems to be finally falling into place

That building is the Capitol Square Building (not to be confused with the Capitol Park Building at Griswold & State). It was one of the many buildings in the area that was constructed by Sebastian Kresge. It is undergoing a very slow, low-cost renovation into lofts...they've been working on the building for about three years now, with very little visible progress in the last 6 months.
