Detroit Photo of the Day

I now have an office on the 19th floor of the Fort Washington Plaza building, with a corner view of the Fort/Washington intersection. I am considering starting a webcam out the window that will face the Book Cadillac renovation.

Does anyone here know of a site with free webcam hosting? I would rather not consume a ton of bandwidth on my personal site. I figured you guys would appreciate a 24 hour look at the place!

if this is to be the true downtown terminal that everyone seems to point at, that station still looks horribly undersized and does not appear to account for any expansion should the commuter rail ever come to fruition. There are I believe 4 tracks there right now (2 norfolk southern/csx shared asset and 2 canadian national...if there is to be a true commuter station, you are going to need to add some sidings to stage equipment and allow boarding. The more i think about a mid-town terminal, the more i hate it. The terimnal needs to be downtown. This would be a fine in-line stop, but comes up woefully for a terminal.

Including the parking, the structure is 15 or 16 stories, no more. The only way anyone could get over 19 floors out of that count is if they count half floors in the parking, I supposed, which is simply a way of boosting floor counts for marketing purposes. It's not my standard of measurement, it's the normal standard of measurement.

At the end of the day, though, it doesn't matter. I probably shouldn't have even brought it up. :)

Anyway, how's the building? Are the offices nice? Does Sterling Group do a good job of taking care of the building now that they own it? They've done a good job revitalizing the Guardian Building, and hopefully, this kind of care spills over into the other properties they've own. The structure isn't much to look at from the outside, but perhaps the interior is better. Do you know if it's Class A or B office space?

I hope Sterling Group gets their website back up an running sometime soon. It's been down for what, a year now?

There's these big grey stone or cement block things that have these designs carved into them, and they kinda look like circuit boards. There's those two black buildings (this one, and also the comerica building (I don't know what it's really called) in that area, and one of them has those things by the sidewalk. It's not really important though, I was just wondering since I always get them confused.

they are not at grade. If you drive around, you will see that they are easily 10 feet above the elevation of a given roadway. I was checking the proposed terminal site on Sunday and while the roads do drop a little, the tracks are certainly elevated on an earthern embankment. Like I said, they are pretty much on this embankment from delray junction to milwaukee junction.
