Levine Properties has an agreement with the city and county that provides the firm with tax-increment grants of up to $23.7 million for the completion of the deck at 10th and Brevard streets and another deck with 400 spaces adjacent to the new county park. The 10th Street deck must be completed by July 1, 2016, for Levine to receive the funds, and the other deck must be completed by Dec. 31, 2019.

Not sure if those grant requirements have been altered, but to say those deadlines aren't going to be met is an understatement.

Edit: This article sums up Levine's policy of "over-promise, never deliver" pretty nicely and it's 5 years old.

In a sense of irony... Wouldn't it be kinda nice if that second parking deck (quoted above) was never built?

First Ward needs a lot of things, but much more parking is not one of them.

But that second deck was gonna be a buried 1200 space deck beneath two 20+ story residential towers [emoji1787] So yeah it’s never gonna get built.

Someone should’ve told Levine about using blue text.

Can we get a running list of his incomplete works?

Besides this and all the surrounding bare lots in First Ward there's also the deteriorating Treolar house.

Project at Providence/Fairview.

I'm sure there are others? (Besides the joke about his house on Sharon, which as it's his own house, doesn't matter quite the same as the other projects, imho)

He also was supposed to build a high-rise hotel adjacent to the greenway at Midtown Metropolitan.

Apropos, from the Ledger (Egleston's district includes 3rd Ward):

Quote

Daniel Levine of Levine Properties gave a total of $4,950 to five incumbent candidates (Eiselt, Egleston, Matt Newton, Tariq Bokhari and Driggs). Darin Levine, also listed as being with Levine Properties, gave $2,800 to the same five candidates. Lani Levine, listed as having the same address as Daniel Levine, gave $1,400 to three of the candidates.

Ok I'm sure that's grossly inaccurate, I have no idea which of those blocks he owns, but it should be editable by anyone. Showcases just how much prime land there is available in that side of town anyway. Especially with the Ellis under active construction.

Prime land, or should-be prime land?  Imagine you are a developer.  Would you invest in constructing a building where you have to look at that eyesore?  If you're building an office tower, you need to fill up those offices once the building is completed.  But what business would move in with that view below?  If you are a residential developer, you need to fill the condos and apartments when the building is completed.  But what homeowner wants to look at that view?  Any tenants you get would be expecting bargain rates for the horrible scenery, so it doesn't make good business sense to build in that area until that eyesore is gone.  Levine is not only wasting his own space but he's hurting property values of the surrounding areas.

Someone is definitely reading these posts, ause it seems like not long after we started complaining about the lane being closed for years, work started to progress to reopen it

making it go viral (20,000 views) on twitter the day we started complaining, is way more powerful. :tw_tounge_wink:

A week later and no further progress on the sidewalk. I guess pouring a sidewalk takes as long as everything else Levine does. The lane has turn arrows and lines painted, so that's something at least.

On a happier note, it looks like our lonely excavator found a friend to frolic with.

It looks like a halloween place. Maybe they can have a haunted parking deck and trail?

It would be perfect for paintball or drone racing or something along those lines. They could have been renting out the unused deck as event space or something.
