This may not be the reason specifically, but at the same time: It is really hard to over-exaggerate how f*kd the construction market is right now.

You're worried about some cheap plastic toy for Christmas? Contractors are panicking when even basic light fixtures are suddenly 3-4 month lead times. Fiber cement siding is unavailable until '22. Carpet and tile selections are extremely limited. You wanted long span steel trusses? Guess what, you're now redesigning to use something else. Etc, etc.

I suppose.  The county spokeswoman didn't cite construction or even shortages forcing redesign as reasons for delay.  Instead, it sounds like the level of coordination between both projects is responsible.

I got curious about what Levine owns in First Ward and how it's owned. Seems that his holdings are split between 4 ownership entities. Obviously the Ellis hotel is its own entity because it is a joint venture with the hotel developer, but is there any rhyme or reason to why certain parcels would be in each of the other entities? Is there any insight to be gleaned by this?

The other day I was driving on Brevard and passed this building that’s the one in the 500-531 block (corner of 9th and Brevard) in the map above.  It had previously been boarded up so this Google image must be somewhat dated, but the front entry was open and looks like interior demo was happening.  Maybe?  Anyone know anything about this one?

The remainder of the block along 6th between Brevard and Caldwell is also controlled by him.  Golden Triangle #xx is a series of investments (there are parcels all around town with different series numbers) I believe with minority partners for apartment construction.

I don't know the difference between Ninth and Seventh St.  301 Seventh is specific to that parcel that was related to a transaction with the county for the park.  Concord Levine is that way as a JV to develop the hotel (Levine is contributing the land as an equity stake in that development)

I wonder what he’s waiting on or what he’s thinking personally (What is going on internally). He can’t comment because the delivery date is in? What? 2099? Rolling in his grave without ever done anything. Media just needs to be more transparent on his timelines/responses and be much more critical.

I seem to recall someone posting that Publix-anchored Ten Tryon was seeking building permits as a residential project.  Does anyone have an update on this, or is the project completely dead?

[https://www.foundrycommercial.com/properties/retail/ten-tryon.stml] > Clearly not breaking ground in Q2 2021

[http://armadahoffler.com/properties/ten-tyron/] > Nope, no occupancy in 2022

High rise alert!

The Levine Museum of the New South sold their site to a NY developer for a high rise apartment tower so reports the Charlotte Ledger!

""The Levine Museum of the New South has sold its building uptown to a New York developer, which is planning to build a high-rise apartment tower on the site, the museum announced this afternoon.  The Levine Museum — which has been an uptown staple since 1996 — sold its 0.7-acre site for $10.75M to Vela Uptown LLC, “a New York-based development company that plans a high-rise apartment building for a range of tenants,” the museum said in a news release.  Vela is partnering with Connecticut-based luxury apartment developer Post Road Residential on the project, the museum said.""  Charlotte Ledger

Any idea if the museum is relocating elsewhere in Uptown?
