source link? I'd like to see some actual numbers...

India is really making a splash. Will Indians be the new Chinese? Will every town in America soon have a curry stand? Amazing.

Other surprises:

Colombians overtaking Haitians as number 2 in Miami.

Guyanese in NYC.

Haitians in Boston. I wouldn't have guessed it.

A big lack of Hispanic immigration to Phoenix.

Africans in MSP.

By the way, thanks for posting. I love immigration stuff.

Here's another take on the numbers. A list of every source country with over 1,000 persons to a metro area. This will favor immigrant heavy cities, but will show where the heavy immigration is coming from and to.

I'm using the same table as above.

In order of total immigration, MSA's without 1,000+ source not listed

Immigration across the board is done compared to previous years but its most likely because the INS could not keep up the work load which is why there is a huge backlog that bush wants to be taken care of by like 2006. Also this year it did not show all countries numbers for security reasons or something i suspect? I also wish that it would include all the American Samoans and especially the people from Federated States of Micronesia, Palau, Marshall Islands, Guam, Northern Mariana Islands, etc that migrate to Hawaii their populations have been exploding the past few years here but not all are counted as they are free to migrate without visas or not counted as immigrants. Ask anyone who lives in Honolulu especially and they will tell you just how fast and how huge the Micronesian population has grown its trully amazing. I think the Micronesian population and Black population are growing about the same rates currently which is faster than the Asian population and 2nd in raw numbers here for the past 3 yrs. We've also been getting a lot of secondary migration from other states too.

Other surprises:

Africans in MSP.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Yeah, Minneapolis has a whole neighborhood, Cedar-Riverside, which is predominantly Muslim Somali, replete with women walking around in their robes. It's an interesting contrast, because the same neighborhood is full of bars as well as Islamic-style coffeehouses.
