I didn't know where to post this, but the Major Rudolf Anderson memorial in Cleveland Park is getting a makeover. The tall black fence is gone from around the plane, and work is being done to the grounds surrounding the memorial. I HOPE the fence stays gone and the memorial is made to be much more approachable.

Edit: conveniently, Greenville Daily Photo has a picture posted of this work... http://www.greenvilledailyphoto.com/index.php/2012/08/26/renovation-of-the-anderson-memorial/

This may be a bit off the beaten path, but I stumbled across a large land-clearing project and am wondering what's all the hubub, Bub. It's off Woodruff Road, near the intersection of Butler, on a back street named Bagwell road. The project is essentially behind MiMi's Japanese Steakhouse, if that helps. My first thought is that it will be housing, most likely apartments. Anyone know for sure what's going in there?

Wish they would start building sidewalks and bike paths on secondary roads around Woodruff so eventually Woodruff could have a complete renovation. Is the land cleared of all trees? It has been pretty open like it is on Google Maps since I moved here. The map has a few houses scattered around though. Apartments are great but they should add sidewalks so maybe people will start walking to some stores if they lived nearby. Maybe from the apartments on Feaster to Woodruff Road should apartments added and Rocky Creek could have them added as well. Are Greenville county zoning laws requiring sidewalks in new developments because it seems that Richland county is doing that. All the subdivisions and commercial developments that are recently built have pretty extensive sidewalk systems with some even having specific trails to lead kids between developments to new schools. Just wondering what the county has planned for the future.

On the zoning website there is an application for a small medical office park off Woodruff and Halton at 369 Woodruff Road. It's supposed to have 6 buildings: http://www.greenvillesc.gov/PlanningZoning/PlanningApplications/Applications/2012/SEPTEMBER/PlanningCommission/09-13-2012/SD-12-184-369WoodruffRoad.pdf

Does anyone know what is being planned at the corner of Roper Mountain Road and Blacks Drive? There are a few rezoning signs posted along the road and I was wondering if they are building a subdivision or apartments or what.

Anybody know the current status of this? Is it dead?

Has anyone been by the Hyatt recently? A new canopy structure, which extends out from the old Liquid Hwy location, really makes a strong impact on the street. I've only seen it from a distance, but it seems to completely transforms the way you experience the building on Main Street. I'm really excited to see the new chandelier.

The renovations for the new Cliffs building look great! The Main Street and Laurens Street facades are a tremendous upgrade. Does anyone know if the steel I-beam will continue to be exposed on the Main Street face? I love the sophisticated, yet raw look.

I hope Moe Joe's renovations next door are well done. I also would like to see them paint their building to contrast the gray of the Cliff's building.

Any word on what's happening at the corner of East North and Stone (across from Pete's)? They tore down a house this week, and I've noticed realtor signs have gone up over the past few months. It's an odd site geographically, because it has crazy elevation changes. But it's a pretty great location at the entrance to downtown. I could see a residential development there.

I'm not a Walmart fan persay, but I do enjoy going into the Walmart Neighborhood Store on Pelham quite a lot. It sure beats going to the Supercenter store on Woodruff Rd. any day! The two stores couldn't be more different from each other (minus some product offerings) and yet, they are so close to one another. Too funny!

That's my regular Wal-mart and the nicest one in the area. Small enough to get in and out quickly and they have just the right merchandise that you would regularly need from a Wal-mart.
