Wonderful rehab. Been many years in the making. Glad to see it come to some fruition!

Now for SCDOT to put the road on a road diet and the City to annex the rest of Conestee.

I'm initially impressed by the site plan of apartments proposed for the old Harris Teeter. This will have decent visibility entering and exiting the city on 385. Some retail outparcels could have been nice, but overall it's not a bad use for this empty site.

"Age targeted apartments" Is that a different name for senior or assisted living apts?

Nice but would have been great too if Teeter had reopened there with all the residential growth nearby off Roper Mountain and Verdae.

That grocery store has been there a long time and has been I think at least three different brands.  None lasted very long.

I'm not privy to any financial data on that Harris-Teeter store, but it opened when I still lived in Greenville. Despite the fact that we lived in another part of town, we did our main grocery shopping there--it was a lot bigger and stocked a lot more and variety of stuff. Lots of other people did the same. I have a hard time believing it was a money-loser.

To me, it seemed like H-T turned tail and ran once Publix moved into the Greenville market.

That doesn't mean a grocery story would work there now, of course.

It wasn't an easy in and out for HT or Bi-LO at rush hour but neither is the Verdae location Bi-Lo relocated too.  Hanging a left out of the current Verdae  BL and heading back to Roper Mountain or Verdae is not easy. If I lived at Verdae -Target would be getting as much of my grocery $$ as possible when the shortcut opens up.

Did they hire Greenville News employees? The McClaren used a rendering from the proposed senior living facility up the road.  And they provided no actual updates that could have been achieved by telephone calls. The inclusion of the Citisculpt project was a waste of space. I doubt that's happening anytime soon. UBJ, get it together!

^^ The McClaren rendering is correct, but it may have been fixed since you posted your comment.  I hadn't seen the Conastee Mill rendering. I really like it.

Couldn’t think of where this should go, so others feel free to recommend another thread it could go. Reminder: tomorrow is the day the Final Downtown Masterplan is unveiled. I liked what Urban Design Associates did with their draft/preview of the Masterplan, so I definitely look forward to seeing the final iteration.

Probably something like Piedmont Marketplace in Greer. I'm guessing something like Hobby Lobby possibly (stores usually avg around 55,000 sq. ft) and a variety of other junior anchors.  Kohls is doing mainly smaller stores too around that size.

I highly recommend a visit to the Biltmore Estate while their Gardens Railway miniature trains are on display (through September).  Anything remotely similar would be a significant attraction in Greenville.  The creators of the Biltmore displays, Applied Imagination, are among the best in the industry.
