Agency will review housing requests in KC

The Missouri Housing Development Commission will review nine financing requests for affordable housing in Kansas City and nine in the surrounding area at a public hearing Nov. 22 at the Embassy Suites in Kansas City.

 

The commission, which administers federal and state low-income housing tax credits, will make financing decisions for 2005 at its Dec. 17 meeting in Kansas City. A total of 111 requests were made statewide. Other hearings will occur Nov. 17 in St. Louis and Nov. 18 in Columbia.

Applicants include Dale Schulte, who wants to renovate buildings at 119 Walnut St. and 207-213 Walnut St. The Old Town Lofts would provide 44 apartments in the River Market.

Schulte, a lawyer with White Goss Bowers March Schulte & Weisenfels PC, is the leading developer of affordable housing in Downtown.

Yarco Co. Inc. of Kansas City wants financing for three projects: Landmark Towers, a 64-unit apartment rehab for elderly tenants in Liberty; Olde Oak Tree, a 124-unit apartment rehab for elderly tenants in Independence; and Lexington Gardens, a 48-unit apartment rehab in Lexington, Mo.

Other Kansas City-area financing requests:

Woodland Heights IV, 20 four-bedroom houses in Woodland Heights at 42nd Street and Highland Avenue, 41st-42nd streets and Woodland Avenue, and 39th Street and Highland Avenue.

Mooney's Villa, 50 new apartments for senior citizens on East 33rd Street and Montgall Avenue.

Chaumiere Place Apartments, 35 apartments for senior citizens at 4140 N. Walrond Ave.

The Summit-Senior Villas, 40 apartments at 9404 Grandview Road.

Nottingham Apartments, a 48-unit apartment rehab at 1748 Washington St.

The Blackstone, a 20-unit apartment rehab at 817 Cherry St.

Alexandria Apartments, a 54-unit apartment rehab at 1326 and 1328 E. Armour Blvd.

Parkway Apartments, a 40-unit apartment building to be built at 4001 Paseo Blvd.
