I have to agree with you dubone, while it may be painful for us to sit here and watch those parking lots bask in the sun, it will probably be better in the long run with more dense development. Just wait 20 years and I'm sure most will be filled up.

Hi i am new here as a member, but i'll take a shot at my common knowledge. Anyways, that aerial is pretty good, actually it is the best i have seen so far. Charlotte has come a long way from just twenty years ago.

I finally spotted the original four tall buildings from 1979 in the new pictures. They're really buried.

Truelly the "evolution" of Charlotte is quite impressive.

Hope with time more parkings lots will be filled (not sure of the expression, sorry) and that Gateway Village will be "linked" to downtown with some constructions...For the moment it seems it's a little bit "far away"...

OK I see a bunch of lowrise to mid rise developments in gateway. I like the idea and I think if it is linked to th core then it will be a great urban corridor.

You can go here to see all the projects around there. Gateway is the area under the legend in that aerial. There are quite a few projects that will help fill in the gap.

My wife and I took a mini vacation this past weekend and I used her new compact camera to snap a few shots from the window on takeoff and landing at CLT. I did a quick cleanup on the images as the heat made for an extremely hazy day:

The first two picture really give a sense of how large Uptown could be....look at the distance between the Adam's Mark complex and the main tower cluster along Tryon.
