Vacant Ford Auditorum could host museum

Let's relocate the Motorsports Museum and Hall of Fame of America from its current home in Novi to the long-vacant Ford Auditorium in downtown Detroit.

How's that for an offbeat idea on a Monday morning?

Actually, it's more than just a fanciful notion. It was the subject of a meeting last week that included Detroit's chief development officer, Walt Watkins; Detroit/Wayne County Port Authority Director Curtis Hertel and Harry Kurtz, a local entrepreneur working with the Motorsports Museum and Hall of Fame.

Don't expect this idea to become reality soon. It's in a very early, exploratory phase.
