If Mackey is smart he will take all the scrutiny to heart and focus on perfoming in an above board and fully transparent manner. His rocky road to Sheriff will be forgotten if he does a good job. Overall I think the whole system should be scrapped and made non-partisan.

Noticed this evening that the Carrillon has new magenta colored lights on the roof. It looks quite nice.

^ Although I haven't gotten a wide view of the skyline at night with the new lights yet, it seems like this building will stand out a little more with bolder colored roof lights, especially given the eye grabbing lighting that Trademark has right next to it.

Charlotte City Council tours downtown Greensboro during a retreat to get ideas for Charlotte's Center-City. They toured places like Southside, Elon University Law School, Center-City Park and NewBridge Bank Ballpark. They mainly wanted to see how Greensboro did it, (with the ballpark) how it was funded and how it meshed with downtown Greensboro. The council was very impressed at what Greensboro has done to it downtown over the past several years. Charlotte City-Council conducted its city business at the Grandover Resort in Greensboro.

I walked from my apt down to Brixx on East for dinner last night. I almost got hit twice by mindless drivers violating my space when I had the right of way on the crosswalk. I guess I should not have cursed out the second driver but almost getting run over when obeying traffic laws makes one a little upset I love all the walkable destinations available on East Blvd but it's horribe the way motorists just ignore the walkers, cyclists, and joggers.

Damn, I wish they would have left it. The magenta looked great, and added another color to the skyline.

^ Agreed. Hopefully they will bring the reddish color back for Christmas. I wish buildings uptown would add seasonal color to their lighting schemes.

Throwing in a little color would really help to spice things up a bit. Too bad about Carillon, I really liked the new lighting scheme. I actually think 400 South Tryon has tons of potential to become one of the coolest buildings uptown if only the night lighting was changed. Since Wachovia is the tenant, maybe they could install some blue and green night lights?

How many months of the year are 'breast cancer awareness' months? I don't mind, but it seems like it was just a couple of months ago that pink was everywhere for the same thing...

Apparently October is the official awareness month, but I've seen a lot of stuff lately. Perhaps it's just a coincidence.

I think a couple factor's play into the perception. February 1st is "wear red day," which is information about women's heart health. In addition, lots of basketball teams are doing breast cancer awareness activities this month for the Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer Fund. I know that State will be wearing pink uniforms for the event Sunday.
