So just thinking. Is there even a need for 277 on the SouthEnd side?

Why cap it instead of just getting rid of it, maybe add a lane on the brookshire section. Am I missing something?

I drive on that section everyday.  From my house on Cedar jumping on 277 takes me to midtown, Independence or really anything on the other side of downtown in minutes by avoiding surface streets.

Yeah, I must admit as a SouthEnd resident, it does get me to midtown, Elizabeth, and to Independence Blvd. rather quickly. I use 277 all the time.

This can go in a couple of places (Charlotte's reputation, Dilworth) but I thought I would throw it here.

I was unaware that Ryan Seacrest opened up a studio in the Levine Children's Hospital.  It's an endeavor as part of his Foundation and appears focused on giving Children the ability to explore making video projects.  I actually think it is a really kind of cool thing particularly in the Children's Hospital where it can those kids something to focus on.

What struck me though is this is only the fifth with the other cities being Atlanta, Dallas, Philadelphia, and Orange County.

Im excited That the Charlotte Hornets & Charlotte Knights might Bring people uptown who otherwise otherwise wouldn't come.

I hope there's a lot of activities those games days to make locals think of uptown more and more as an entertainment destination

I think Knights & Hornets will cater not only cater to the sports fans, by locals. I wonder how much of an impact that is to make more locals come uptown.

Well, just from a sheer numbers standpoint, you'll have an extra (assume an average of 6000/game) 6000 people in uptown for baseball that wouldn't otherwise be there 72 nights out of the year.  That's a pretty significant addition.  Obviously some of that 6000 would have been uptown regardless of if the Knights were there or not, so maybe cut that number in half to 3k.  That's still a lot of extra bodies in uptown for 72 nights a year.

I think 6000 is on the low side. I would guess minimum 7500 per game during the week + Sellouts every weekend.

Yeah I know.  I'd just rather be conservative with these "estimates".  In all honestly I imagine they will do very, very well and surpass estimates for their attendance.

6 months since we heard a single detail publicly about crescent. Wish we'd get another crumb of info. At this point, I'm not even concerned with skyline impacts or height. I'm just curious about the transformative part. Is it the design that's transformative... Retail... Connectivity to SouthEnd...transformative could literally mean anything...

It's been a quiet few weeks. Luckily the GA is occupying my mind with their shenanigans :) doesn't hurt the baseball stadium, Romare & Childress are at an interesting stage also

We all want to hear (and see) details about the Crescent project... I'm not an architect, but I would imagine it has to take some time to put all the details, plans, models, etc together. I'd wouldn't be surprised if we didn't hear anything until at least the end of the year, if not sometime in 2014. But that's my uneducated guess :)

Yeah this forum is torture... The half-satisfying kind. I'll be here when it happens.

:D what sucks is its never ending.

Always something to look forward to (baseball, epicenter, blue line, red line, gold line, bobcats arena, DNC, Hornets rebranding, cap 277, etc) so the torture is worth it. I remember drooling over the blue line exhibit they had in the library.

I wanna see some Highrise, uninspiring, boring, dorms uptown. Or anything gritty-ish or older looking/middle class. Berkmans tower that was proposed sorta fit that bill for me. I'd loveeeee to see a building like that uptown. It was always one of my favorite proposals aesthetically.

If you've ever wanted motivation for putting a gun to your head, go read the Observer comments on the article about CLT Airport battle and state politics. My god. Are some people really this dumb? While implementing the Facebook comments feature took away some of the people that could barely type on a keyboard, it obviously didn't get rid of them all. Sheesh.

It's honestly embarrassing to read some of the opinions of people on there.  Not for me personally, but I just genuinely feel embarrassed for the person and how stupid/ignorant they are.  Unfortunately, ignorance is bliss for them so they just continue to post a litany of babel.

I'm so jealous that Kings Mountain could be getting a casino.

I would love to see a casino at Eastland or preferably uptown. It'd be soooo cool if a casino could anchor Gateway Station. Or II ward.

I know thats a hugeeee long shot and I might be overestimating how big of an impact a casino could have, but it'd be so cool to have one uptown.
