Yes looks great at night. The bad thing about al burj is that it's a concrete monster so doesn't look half as good in the day. It would only take some minor tweaking to make it work.

It's possible al burj could surpass burj dubai but I don't think it's probable. Burj dubai has dubai in it's name so they might want to keep it the tallest.

I like this look of this area. The shorter more traditional buildings in the forground and the skyscrapers in the background all lined up.

I really like this area as well.

I love the idea of having the retail shops next to the major downtown highrises.

New Orleans was divided this way in the early 1900's, with the retail shops on Canal Street, and the major highrises on Poydras Street, but the city later removed most of the retail in an effort to "modernize" the city.

Yeah I guess nowadays you usually just have the bottom floors of the high-rises used as retail. I don't know what it is but I really like this type of design. The retail area seems much more approachable.

^It adds a sort of European Ambiance as well, because it looks like a canal running off to the side, along with the 3 story buildings.

All this is still a very long way away. Also these buildings are only indications. The real ones will obvioulsly not look like these since they'll be built by different developers who bought plots:

Dear freaking god, these projects take ambition to a whole a new level. Hell, these ideas are so big, I don't even think ambition is the right word. Hubris, maybe?
