Steeple Lounge no longer rock?

I heard that the Steeple Lounge is closing down as a rock venue and reopening as a Hip Hop venue. In thinking about the neighborhood it sucks that the only late night "club" type venue will be shifting demographics away from the young rocker set as these are the people that shop in places like Lotus, Boris and Natasha etc. Could this shift affect these shops?

Plaza/Midwood area Pecan near Central Ave.

The people who live in Plaza/Midwood, often don't shop there. They go to Southpark. As a result the retail that is there often serves the fringes and is subject to a great deal of flux.
