That’s the new Novus residential tower downtown. Will be 27 stories with a significant retail component at ground level. They are already marketing the condos for sale at $1k+ per square foot and I’ve seen several listings that are already pending. Insane. Second phase for that site to be announced.

The Novus tower rising.  This was taken from a distance on W Pettigrew St.  on July 5th.  It may look taller when viewed up close.

Downtown Durham is popping with lots of apartments being built in and around downtown.  Nice to see Google's name up there in the Durham ID building and just checked they have 103 openings in Durham!  No work yet on the ATC expansion but once they secure an anchor tenant for the office I am sure it will start.  Maybe the company I already mentioned in this post.

Like the height and modernism -- but it's a doomed project until there's a fundamental change in the attitude of residents and leadership.  

Also, the street/sidewalk facing space is horrible and dead.

Buried in this article about the Triangle office market lots of discussion about downtown Durham.   

""Duke’s portfolio is one element of the university’s leadership in downtown Durham’s renaissance over the past 25 years. More recently, it has subleased about 20 percent of its downtown space – including 150,000 sq.-ft. of space at 200 Morris Street to Google’s cloud engineering unit.""

that is the first time mentioned I have seen on how much space Google has in Durham.  That is pretty impressive.

Various downtown Durham shots from my early morning walk this morning.  I love this compact downtown and quite a few people mulling around at 830 am.  

Love your downtown Amtrak station in a renovated tobacco warehouse.   The many historical buildings downtown makes it a great downtown.
