Okay. For clarification, its on the outskirts of town in comparison with older airports in older cities, such as Miami, Boston or San Deigo, whose airports are typically within 5-10 miles of downtown in an area of the inner core that's been developed for decades.

I don't think McCoy AFB had all the land that is currently MCO's land. Orlando has been annexing parcels of land out there since the '80's in incriments. They did it before development caught up to the airport's boundaries. It has, on the east, ala Lake Nona.
