I have heard that when the final gaps are completed in this trail it will be the world's longest bike trail. I wonder how accurate a statement that is, would the Applachian trail or Natchez Trail etc. be considered in the same catagory?

my parents road the whole way last year Pittsburgh (McKeesport) to washington dc (geogetown). I rode two days. I liked the yough trail more then the C & O trail, because it goes through more small towns. There are streches on the the c & o were there isn't a place to buy a drink or food for 30 miles (without going off the trail).

Also, there is no garbage cans on the c & o. aparently a trash can disrups the natural beauty.

I think they are having a hard time getting land by sandcastle. Kennywood dosen't want to sell it. In duquesne they have plans of making the trail were there are green pipes right now (they will have to remove the miles of pipe). It will take a few (or many) years. But they will finish the trail.
