The Louisiana Superdome in New Orleans is so big, that the entire Astrodome in Houston can fit inside of it, with room to spare. The Superdome is also in the record books..there is more room and "open air" under the roof of the Superdome then any other covered structure in the world.

This is fun.

Florida also lays to an even older city.  St. Augustine is merely the oldest continually inhabited city (by european settlers of course).  Pensacola was settled 6 years before St. Augustine but later abandoned.

...in the continental United States. San Juan, Puerto Rico is the oldest city in the U.S., as it was founded by Spanish colonists in 1521.

Georgia is the largest state east of the Mississippi River.

Nope.

Michigan, at 96,810 square miles, is by far the largest state state east of the Mississippi River. It is trailed by Florida (65,758 square miles), Wisconsin (65,503 square miles), and Georgia (59,441 square miles). Michigan is much larger than many states in the west, and ranks 11th overall. This is, I think, a little known fact, so much so that Georgia promotes itself (inaccurately) as the largest state east of the Mississippi River.

Clearly, Michigan is larger...

hahah....who won the shrine bowl this year? Wasn't it NC? I think that's a great tradition.

For those of you who don't know what we are talking about, the "Shrine Bowl" is an all star high school football game in which seniors from NC high teams compete against an SC team. The winner gets bragging rights for that whole year on which state Andrew Jackson was born in. And yes Krazeeboi, he was born in NC :)

Yes, but you area including land covered by water (your map is proof of this as well)

If you look at land area only - Georgia is 57,919 sq. mi. and Michigan is 56,809 sq mi.

The trivia statement simply says "Georgia is the largest state east of the Mississippi River". It's not, obviously, as Michigan's area is far larger. Why would you discount the area covered by water, anyway? Doesn't make any sense... :dontknow:
