Atlanta is not overrated but every city is somethin special.

The San Antonio/Austin Metro area is the new area to watch in the south.

Atlanta only is overrated in metro population because it takes 29 counties to make this city compete.

Just think what other cities metro area population would be if it included 29 counties like atlanta

The eight cities that needs a good leader to take it to the ultimate level

New Orleans could be one of the greatest cities not only in the South but a world class city like Paris.

OKC -needs a pr firm to market this great city

Tampa-St Pete lets get some more love

Memphis a bridesmaid to Nashville but is a prettier woman

Shreveport-Bossier City-Could be the Las Vegas of the

south

Mobile-Where are you baby-Needs PR

Norfolk-Is missing.Definitely needs marketing andknown for something other than the Navy

Jackson,Miss we need you

Atlanta's metro counties are very small in land area. That is why metro Atlanta is made up of so many because the counties are very small compared to counties in Texas and Florida. If you looked at metro Dallas or Houston, one of there counties is the size of 2 or 3 of Atlanta's if not more. Because of that, it makes the population areas the same when comparing size.

The Georgia Counties may be small, compared to Florida ones, but make no doubt about it, Atlanta's spread out sprawling metro, is a lot larger than every metro area (landwise) in Florida.

As mentioned GA counties are very small. Atlanta's cores counties Fulton, Cobb, Dekalb, Gwinnett and Clayton had in 2000: 816,000, 665,000, 607,000, 588,000 and 236,000 respectively. Hardly the fringes. By now thes figures are pretty out of date and a few of the next tier counties will be in the 200+ range.

Remember a city population's is not a true measure of a city's population and counties are not either, a city ends where it ends, it may technically be bound by a "city" border and some states have huge counties in terms of land area just as some cities are entire counties in land area.... to be fair one must look at where the population truly falls...

I agree with satalac. What did you mean about Nashville and Memphis? Memphis is a bridesmaid to Nashville but a prettier one? That doesn't really make all that much sense.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

I also agree. Nashville has alot more to offer than Memphis.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Guys, its pretty clear what he meant. Just think about it:

"Memphis a bridesmaid to Nashville but is a prettier woman"

He is saying Memphis is better, but Nashville is the center of attention.
