Except that according to the latest article in "The State," they've done away with the tower in their plans. I don't mind that, because I wondered how much of the skyline it would block from the stands around home plate.

I was looking forward to the tower, but I'm just ready for the park to be built. I hope they haven't cut out many other corners.

Just an update for everyone- due to the economy, the naming rights to the stadium have not been sold. USC was in discussions with one party, but they backed out at the last minute. So, until the naming rights are sold, it will be called Carolina Stadium. Link

I personally hate that its being sold off like this. USC has such a great tradition with Sarge Frye Field. I wish they would just transfer that name over.

It also has a great view of downtown from the stands, which will be great for tv games. Eventually there will be a path down to the riverfront for tailgating.

I drove by to check out the stadium while driving through Columbia. Its truly a thing of beauty. I can't wait to go check out some games there. I'm jealous of the citizens of Columbia who have access to this on a regular basis.

The seats have made a big difference and I'm pleased with the number of Palmetto trees that are being planted. It also looks like there will be a fountain at the outfield entrance similar to the one at the CLA.

I went to the open house of the new stadium it was awsome. i took some picture so it should be on my website soon. but the stadium is money well spend.
