I was thinking about that today actually, I don't know how long Sears will hold on to their Friendly Center store. (I know, then the next question begged is where will Sears relocate to).

Nah. Unless Sears goes under nationwide, that store will be there forever.

My daughter and I had jokes when KMart merged with Sears that perhaps they would name their stores SMart...

I hope not. That Sears is a solid performer as is. There's no need to change something that's working.

Tex and Shirley's probably will close at Friendly. That land could turn into a restaurant with a higher profile easily, and I figure if the lease isn't renewed by Starmount next year, that will be why.

My friend and I were out there tonight (we had dinner at Macaroni Grill hehe) and saw the construction coming along... It was dark though and I didn't have my camera but next time I'm there I'll try to get pics of the construction.

Im the friend he so speaks of....and yeah, we could kind of see the outline of the building, it looks like its pretty massive...to be exact. Should be really really nice when completed. It looks like its coming along quite well from what we could see.

It sounds to me like they are going to try to make this high end. I wonder what kind of high end shops they could put in there? Wasn't there supposed to be a residential component to this?

I don't see designer boutiques at Friendly, but the options are endless otherwise.

I didn't necessarily mean that but that would also be good. What I meant was is that from hte tenants they've signed up, it sounds like they're trying to bring stores to this area that weren't here before. So what else could we expect? Maybe some high end fashion stores like Gucci, Louis Vuitton, or somebody else? But, I doubt we could attract those.

Greensboro does have a healthy wealthy population. But most of that's out in the suburbs in Summerfield, Oak Ridge, Stoneville. I beleive before this decade is up we will see one proposal for another mall somewhere in Guilford County.
