Question:
Wasn't the CDOT bullish for years on demo-ing the Polk State building because they wanted to widen the Graham St ROW? I remember something like that being said here.

NWR seems to be building right up to the standard setback to the existing curb.

What gives?

Maybe but they may just have that space for street parking instead of using a whole lane for the retail portion.

This project is still so weird for me to see in it’s location having lived across the street in the JWU apartments. I remember walking to class and Uptown feeling like it essentially dropped off in this area.

Not sure what the issue is here? Thats a solid 16+ ft of width for the sidewalk. Looks to be plenty wide.

From the comments made I was under the impression the DOT wanted to add a vehicular lane, but perhaps I was just assuming.

Can somebody explain where will the parking be? Like for the residents because the renderings and these photos are really showing anything

The Parking will be Structured Parking (Deck) wrapped by the Apartments with a high-rise (14 Story) portion.  I attached the renderings...

So like two stories of parking because I see a pool outdoor area on about the third level.

I think there’s a few floors of parking in the 5thstreet side

There will be enough parking for the residents and I believe also a few spots to support whatever retail will be part of the project.

They’d be wise to include a few spots at $25/day for those of us who no longer have access to affordable spaces when we go to the federal courthouse.

To me this the most disappointing project currently underway in uptown/south end.

Lacks vision, thoughtfulness, scale, creativeness, for such a prominent site that in 5-7 years could be the third center of gravity uptown to which this project could have helped advance. This gets a grade of a D from me. Only thing keeping it from a F is the street level retail.

I can agree but the only plus to me is the design. It’s better than most projects around town that have popped up in the last few years.

It HAS to be based on the price of the property, but its still not even above average for Charlotte standards.

Boo hoo. If some of y’all invested the same amount of time and energy into becoming architects or commercial real estate owners as you do complaining then you’d have a lot less to complain about.
