Today's Times-Union had this article, in which the Chief of Naval Operations, Adm. Clark, expresses specific support for having two carrier bases on the East Coast and for putting a nuclear powered carrier at an upgraded Mayport.

Clark also specifically says he's not the sole arbiter of these decisions and doesn't want to "create expectations for the people of Jacksonville."

Expectations aside, it can't hurt to have the CNO in your court when BRAC time comes around. The article is worth a read.
