Travolta movie sends out casting call for 600 extras

Salma Hayek recently joined cast of film, which begins production this month.

A casting company is looking for about 600 First Coast residents to play extras in the crime drama Lonely Hearts, which recently landed Salma Hayek for a starring role alongside John Travolta and James Gandolfini.

Writer-director Todd Robinson's film is scheduled to start filming in Jacksonville this month. Much of it will be shot downtown and in the Springfield and Avondale neighborhoods, which will stand in for New York state and other locations in the late 1940s and early 1950s.

"Seventy percent of the locations are within five, or let's say seven minutes of the Adam's Mark hotel," Robinson said.

I didn't see this in any of the other threads, so I thought I'd start its own. Even though it's becoming more commonplace for major movies to be filmed in Jax, I think it's noteworthy that this one is being filmed in the urban core. The others had been shot out at the military bases.

It will be interesting to see where they chose to film. The article made it sound like they were scouting out house interiors instead of street scenes though.
