Im 17, our generation seems to Pronounce it Nor-fik or Naw-fik.

Old Sailor’s rhyme; Norfolk Va.   Don’t Drink    Don’t Smoke   Don’t Cuss   Nor….F#ck!!!  Norfolk Va.

So that is how Norfolk is properly pronounced.

Tides prove that this area actually does have sports fans that support local teams, and the Pilot goes Pilot with the small town mindset. That’ll look great if/when any leagues ever want to expand. /s Remember this the next time you  write the next “why can’t the 757 grow?” editorial.

Never mind the fact that no one is looking at HR because the area’s been dragging its feet on an arena for the last 30 years.

The Norfolk Tides are being sold. They are "expected" to stay in Norfolk. I dont want to expect. I want a guarantee. Because last time we expected something, it was the casino that should have been completed last year.

Now, I dont see why they would move, but im really hoping whoever its being sold to understands they should stay regardless if they plan to move them or not.

This is a relatively newer group but they own something like 20 MiLB teams and I couldn’t find any stories about them relocating teams. I think this will be a positive change. Harbor Park is in need of an overhaul and the timing is right with lease negotiations and a well capitalized ownership group. They will also bring direct knowledge of what is working with other teams. Frankly, while the team itself is great and fully loaded with top tier prospects, the experience at Harbor Park has been lacking for awhile now.

They are renovating or building multiple stadiums currently. And they know how to promote. Hopefully they can fix the concession lines. Even when it’s not a packed crowd, you end up missing a bunch of baseball standing in line.

The MEAC Tournament's staying in town for at least another three years. As a former MEAC alum (Go Pirates!) I think this is great news, even though several schools like HU have left. The tourney consistently ranks close to the Top 10 in NCAA conference tourney attendance, and outdid several conferences like C-USA, the Sun Belt, and the WAC. All the more incentive to make some upgrades to the Scope. If they could upgrade the place to get the NCAA opening rounds, that would be awesome.

Norfolk has done a great job as the home of the MEAC, with both the games and events downtown.
