New Bridge Designs

Recently, Des Moines started a proposal for the Principal Riverwalk, and a new Ped. bridge needed to be constructed for the project, but two designs were posted here they are:

and the other one looked like this

Which one do you prefer?

I like the first one. It reminds me of a harp, lol.

I would also like the first one better for my city, mostly because we already have something similar to the second.

They stole the second design from me, I have the high school notebook doodles to prove it! Too bad I don't have a scanner.

I like the first one better, btw. They could have done better with the second design.

The first one is fairly unique. I hope they build that design.

I like the second one. I've never seen that as anything other than a concept.

The design of the second one seems to be more untypical and stylish, I would go for this one.

The "second one" is a design by architect Santiago Calatrava. He designed one for Egypt way back (the second picture in the first post) and another, much more recently, he designed and had built the "Sundial Bridge" in Redding, California. Its been built. Twice in fact.

I think the second one looks cooler, but imagining myself walking across them, I'd rather be on the first one.
