It seems a permit has been filed with FL DEP at long last for a walkway between MK and the Grand Floridian. Tom Bricker’s “backstory” about ELP is priceless!

It will be interesting to see what sort of bridge is constructed over the canal. Let us all pray the nightly water pageant is not doomed.

The dry dock for all the boats in the river and the Jungle Cruise is in Bay Lake, so they’d need to make a draw bridge.  The Electrical Water Pageant (Nighttime boat parade) would be able to continue technically, but they might take the chance tog at rid of it anyways.

Remember the old Pace picante sauce commercials on TV where the guy picks up a bottle of a competitor’s sauce and, upon reading the label, finds out it’s from NEW YORK CITY? Whereupon, he cocks his pistol and points it at the offending product and the naïf holding it? (And to think the NRA wasn’t nearly as powerful back then, but I digress...)

Well. Now we have Brother Jimmy’s North Carolina Barbecue coming to Pointe Orlando. Only thing is, the chain is from... NEW YORK CITY. The sacrilege apparently continues...

Those commercials are Western themed.  If I learned anything about Westerns, who shoot whatever you don't take kindly with.  Allow me to direct you to this documentary from 1885.

I do not remember it but I'm gonna find it on YouTube.  That's crazy; very NRA...

Jeez I wish the state would legalize some competition for them. Seriously among the worst casino I've ever been to

Will never happen due to Issue 3 passing last November.

SHRT is a lovely facility.  The new poker room they opened a few years ago is top notch.  Adding the event center will allow them to host bigger tournament series, even though they'll always play second fiddle to Hollywood.  The downside is that they have their own oversight, so things like the recently announced news of Encore Boston having improper payouts you have minimal recourse with the Seminoles.

The issue has always been that they don't have enough rooms, so you basically get 0 comps and its hard for them to make it a destination for a common person.  Here's hoping this expansion solves that, but I'm skeptical it will be enough.  Rooms are constantly sold out and when they aren't, they're silly pricey.

It appears Vineland Pointe has broken ground on phase 2 and 3. This includes the new Alamo Theaters and Target along with Chick Fil A and Cheesecake Factory.

I noticed the new construction from I-4.  didn't know exactly what it entailed.

I am quite happy as the Target is going to be a wonderful addition to the DP area. I also love the new movies. I will no longer have to drive to tourist areas for a flick...... that is until the area becomes built out and the tourism district extends to the future Otown West project.

Building Fenton would do a lot to make access to DP residents easier.  Otherwise you might as well go to Millenia.  (Fenton has been promised since the mid 90's)

the third Cheesecake Factory for Orlando is big, I think.  they typically place them in big "nodes" if you will...and Orlando has at least three being recognized for those  purposes.    There are more "nodes", of course, in Orlando, as we know, but the third CF is a plus for locals and for tourism...

Looks like Pulte is starting to create the turn lane and will asphalt the first section soon. This will take it about a quarter of a mile in. The county should start the remainder soon because this road is gonna be required for Otown West as well as OCPS for them to start construction on the new middle and high school

No, this is a turn lane on Palm Parkway to go into the first portion of the Fenton/Daryl Carter extension that Pulte has been working on. I believe its only to the distance of the Hilton. I do not think the county started yet....... but the county's work starts after the Hilton.

Ah.  And from there, I take it, Fenton would continue west to 535, right?

That Hilton started with two towers but was supposed to have 2-3 more...

All that townhome, housing, and orange groves was supposed to be golf course before collapse, surrounding that Hilton. (Mirror World Marriott and mirror JW.)

I remember the proposed Orlando Midtown. It was anchored by a 30 story Wyndham. My have times changed.

Despite my love of golf, this is a good thing.  Golf courses are the worst with all of their fertilizer, water use, tree removal, etc.  I love to golf, I hate golf courses being created.  We have plenty.

Fertilizer is only harmful when it is used incorrectly, and aren't most golf courses on reclaimed water in our area now, which is wastewater, and spreading that among a larger area actually allowing for better, more environmentally friendly filtering/treatment? There's no doubt it has its environmental impact, like everything, but I think that is way overblown, if they're well managed, more modern facilities.

The spires look kind of interesting...

From WDW News Today

they could totally do something similar with the Enterprise in a ST attraction hotel; they could make the hallways look like the Enterprise hallways and the rooms look like the ship's rooms, with a starfield out the windows.  And have the doors slide open like on the show.  1701-D, that is...  that is...if Universal were to acquire the rights.  CBS All Access is doing ST: Picard, and they are not under ABC's umbrella, so, different media companies do have different rights to ST...

This update on the proposed Reflections resort between Fort Wilderness and the Wilderness Lodge on the former site of River Country suggests there will be a full-service restaurant with dining extending past the shore and over Bay Lake.

With the demise of Artist’s Point at the Lodge (it’s now character dining), this could be an amazing new spot to eat.

Scott J reviews Toledo, the new 16th floor restaurant in the Coronado Springs Gran Destino Tower at WDW:

By the way, the animated short is amazing. If you like St. Pete’s Dali Museum, you’re likely to love it. (I didn’t link it due to copyright warnings.)
