Orlando Attractions Area News & Developments

look at what we have without casinos here hotel-wise. imagine if we had them. imagine the extra boost in the convention industry too.

I'd be all about it as long as they limit the spread of it to a specific area. The tax implications alone could bring a lot of revenue to the state from out of state visitors. Plus entertainment in the area would go through the roof.

The latest hotel to be demolished in Vegas is the Stardust. Guess what is going up in it's place...

In Las Vegas, where old structures are dismissed as soon as they outlive their usefulness, the Stardust was cleared to make way for a new $4 billion, 5,300-room mixed-used complex called Echelon due to be built by 2010 by Boyd Gaming Inc.

Thats 4 times the size ($$$) as all our big three projects downtown that we are "debating" about building. Casino's if regulated properly, could be a big addition to making sure Orlando stays a top tourist destination.

Almost had me convinced until that line. And that is where my big fear would come in to play.

Let me clarify, I think they should be regulated with regard to location. I don't think Disney would like having casinos right outside their door, but over by international and the convention center would be a great area for casinos.

There is site clearing going on at the Blue Rose site.

I saw a couple of bulldozers two nights ago next to the PCL trailer... I didn't say anything b/c I DNK whether they were already there for a while. THey did say they were expecting to break ground in April...

I called Blue Rose yesterday and the sales lady confirmed that they are starting to do site clearing, not that we needed her epistle to confirm what we could see with our own two eyes. But, I wanted to feel her out (don't know how hot she is, though) to see what she knows about groundbreaking. Sitework is good though. Honestly, though, I think only PCL knows when they will break ground.

She confirmed a collaboration with Orlando Ballet to host some events there once it opens. there was some promo recently.

I concur with a prior comment, that it would've been nice if BR was in DT. Still, it will be a catalyst to transform UBLVD. sorry for the acronyms.

BR = Blue Rose

DT = Downtown

UBVLD = Universal Blvd ( Runs right behind International Drive Basically)

The last part... Who knows.

sorry about the frequent posts about the lake buena vista area. im temporarily up in michigan, but have a house down in the area and a family member stated that all the land being cleared on palm parkway south of its intersection with central florida parkway and north of the ravallo resort has a sign for hilton grand vacations.

any renderings or info on this project?

The Lake Eve Resort, a 15 story condotel, off of I-Drive and Lake Eve (north of Premium Outlets) has financing in place, made a majority of sales, and should break ground this summer. It is not the project asociated with the developer of the Washington & Rosalind multi-use tower, as the article under Headlines thread discusses; it's totally separate.

No Future for Back to The Future

their logic is inconsistent. BTF came out b/c of the hype of the movie at the time. But King Kong, Jaws, Earthquake, ET, etc, were all blockbuster movies (Earthquake being a themed ride based on Hollywood special effects seen in lots of movies of the day). Each has it's own flair for the time period it represents. THey are classic. Just keep adding new rides. Men in Black was another one. I don't know. Maybe it's like WDW; they say that each ride/concession has to be profitable and/or hold its own, otherwise, it gets cut.
