Great news, I've been weary of this development as well as others try to sprout on the other side of the Econ. No more sprawl please! I live in Seminole County and the concern in these parts is more houses chipping away at the edges of Wekiva River/Springs conservation areas.

Portland has an urban growth boundary. Is it too much to ask for Orlando to consider one too?

Yeah.  I think New Orleans has one too.  Daytona has one ala the wildlife refuge separating east Volusia from west Volusia.

  • “The jobs they’re talking about that come along with this facility pay 50 percent higher than the average wage in Orlando,” said UCF economist Sean Snaith.

That's not bad, but is $75k/year enough to afford anything built in Lake Nona right now?

And I agree, 88 permanent jobs seems pretty low. Comparing the size to Buckingham Palace is also pretty stupid, considering that apparently 800 people work at the Palace--almost ten times as many as at this proposed building.

The real nice effect would be getting them to see Orlando while in town as most KPMG employees but their time in before leveraging that into a much better paying job with way less hours in another company. Most people get to Sr or Manager then take their free CPA license and leave. Be nice to put Orlando on the radar of more people like that.

Owner of "I-4 Eyesore" says 16-year project to be completed this year

It was reported yesterday and again today, that Claud Bowers, President of WACX-TV SuperChannel and owner of the Majesty Building, aka the "I-4 Eyesore" in Altamonte Springs, has announced that construction on the building will resume and finally be completed over the coming year. He says he's aiming for an opening date of January 23, 2018.

Stay tuned.

Yes, that looks like the place.  I can see foundation work all formed up, and I think, poured.

Does anyone have renderings of the new appts going up in Maitland just north of Publix on the east side of 17-92. They have moved a lot of heavy equipment to the site.

It's Lowes Home Improvement's new Orchard Supply Hardware. I did a video walk-around of the entire block last week. The Sears at Fashion Square is the site of a second one coming soon.
