what a great project. look at the size of it. I like how the back side is kind of tucked away behin there--- you wouldn't even know it was there from NY Ave.

the Metro is blessed to have a good handful of these types of projects that got built recently. I'll list the ones I'm talking about:

-Douglas Grande (Winter Park)

-Lofts at Uptown Alta.(Uptown Altamonte)

-Veranda Residences (Metrowest)

-The Welesley (College Park)

-City Centre (Kissimmee)

-Camden Orange Court (downtown)

-Cityview (downtown-- a few years back)

I'll be satisfied when we have 25-30 more of these types of developments. These are what makes a city a city.

well, we also have:

-Cheney Place (uptown)

-Uptown at Echelon (uptown)

-Lincoln at Delaney? (South & Rosalind)

-Post Parkside? (on Central--south side)

-Thornton Park Central (Central & Summerlin)

...and these other projects hail from the end of the '90's-early 2000's.

so this type of development has been going on for about a decade.

Are the projects above discussed here on UrbanPlanet. I hope to explore the Orlando forum a bit more in future days, however I've yet to scratch the surface of this great place so I'm a bit ignorant.

Don't get me wrong, i think its a good start. I hope that eventually all development within the city limits of Orlando are built by the same urban principles that were executed with these projects.

I think there's more, if you count some of the buildings at Baldwin that have enclosed garages within the building.

Nemours settles on location outside Lake Nona

Another blow to the city of Orlando. A 115 arcres for a hospital...you can imagine how big the surface parking lot going to be.

Why is this such a blow to the city of Orlando. Isn't Nemours a non-profit / tax exempt company? They're moving 1.5 miles down the road. Does it really matter if it's in the city limits or not. Considering the Lake Nona area within the city limits, altough technically correct, is really a stretch anyway.

Has anyone heard anything more on the supposed JW Marriott going into the space formerly designated for the Regent Winter Park (Langford Hotel site). I know there was an issue with the commisioners about parking spaces or something and that they wanted to re-visit their earlier approval. I had heard this was going to be on their docket for Dec 10 but did not see anything published about what happened at the meeting.
