Is this a joke?  Looks like some easy photoshopping.  If this is real, do you think the height is so that it can be seen from I-195?

With the height, I think they are aiming for I-95/64 but the closest available land to the interchange just happen to be along I-195.

This is the design for Carvana at Westwood - 12 stories, pretty shocked at how tall this is.

Put a spire on that sucker!!  Otherwise, it looks too much like a glass version of the Monroe tower!  LOL!

I have often wondered why this building was still vacant considering it's location. Thankfully, it won't stand empty much longer and I believe is the last big vacant building on Main downtown.

More than a big new building, I'd really like to see more headway made on vacant buildings. Seeing that the old hotel building is to be renovated was great news this morning!

With the CarMax office and Whole foods going up, the corridor near the fan is starting to look like it will be alive soon.

The majority of the Broad Street corridor downtown still seems abandoned though.

Shiny new buildings might make the skyline look a bit nicer, but until we make more headway on renovations of long-abandoned buildings I think the city is going to be held back. People come visit our city and stay someplace nice like Quirk only to walk outside and be hit with a wall of dilapidated buildings that have been abandoned for decades.

I always envisioned this corner having a grand tower with ground level retail.

The massing is off on the apartment buildings.  I've seen similar sized building built in Charlotte, and they come off looking like a GIANT wall.   I know the economics of it probably wouldn't work, but splitting the apartments into 4 buildings would be a great improvement to the street-scape.

Yep, extra elevators, staircases, building systems, etc. Looks like they have tried to break up the facade but agree if often looks too 2D of a difference.

can't tell, do these extend under the bridge, from this angle, it looks like they do, which would be very unusual.

I don't think they extend under the bridge.  There is a gap between them and an old warehouse that is under renovation to be part of the apartment complex.

I wonder what they're going to do with the space below the bridge.

I will bet on "covered" parking.

VUU has closed on the purchase of the Budget Inn making it the first time in 40 years that they have grown outside of their gates.   The hotel will be demolished and replaced with a multi purpose building focusing on learning and community development.  The ultimate goal is to turn Lombardy from Brook to Chamberlayne into a mixed use stroll district leading into campus.
