VUU has closed on the purchase of the Budget Inn making it the first time in 40 years that they have grown outside of their gates.   The hotel will be demolished and replaced with a multi purpose building focusing on learning and community development.  The ultimate goal is to turn Lombardy from Brook to Chamberlayne into a mixed use stroll district leading into campus.

Nice!  More details and a rendering,  about the building. It’ll have classrooms for the hospitality/culinary programs, a street level cafe, and hotel rooms on the top floors.

If we use the same floor to floor ratio as the first tower, the second tower would be 785 ft tall.  :w00t:

Assuming the crown is about 4 floors in height, we would easily get 730'.  It would be more centralized in the skyline as well compared to its suddenly shorter sister, so I could live with that :)

eands - If we took the wish of 38 floors for the second and used the same average floor to floor height of the first tower:  Take the entire building height of tower 1 and divide by the number its floors.  Then take that number and multiply by 38 floors to get the wishful height of tower 2.

Well, I would call that a busy week:

-Costar announces it is doubling its size to 2000 employees and may go into Navy Hill.
- legislation introduced to shrink the size of the Navy Hill TIF substantially and making the $1.4B project closer to reality

- Pamunkey Tribe announces $350M casino and resort

- giant surf/wave park mixed use development

- Scott’s Addition hotel redevelopment includes 12 story tower

- getting closer to RFP for the boulevard redevelopment

What else did I forget about?

I just saw a quick story about VCC being bought completely now between the county of Hanover (we knew that part already) and another private developer (I think it was Rebkee)!

What an AMAZING week!!  Love it!

Yep!  That’s it!  Thanks.  I think that’s also a big deal.

Just just a quick brainstorm here: with all the newly announced developments, I count at least 4ish new high rises downtown/Richmond city...that we know about (Dominion, CoStar, Casino, a VCU high rise within NH).
