Was your question when would they start or be finished? Trying to understand what was said to be 12 months from August...

Has to be start next August(2015).

Seems like a long time to build a 3 level parking garage, unless this also includes other civic work and necessary upgrades to utilities like sewer.

I thought Aughtry was building the garage and the city jsut reimbursing the cost or whatever. In that case, August 2014 to START would make sense.

The City should start the garage in August 2014 and the hotel should be ready to start in August 2015.

Construction for the RiverPlace Garage expansion begins this week.

Construction outside the RiverPlace Garage located 300 River Street- begins this week. The expansion will include a parking garage, Embassy Suites hotel, condominiums and retailers. In order to protect spaces for monthly and hotel parkers during construction, a limited number of spaces will be available to daily parkers during normal business hours. The new garage is expected to be complete next spring, and the remainder of the project is expected to be complete by mid-2016.

That seems like a fair time table given the difficulties of building in a very active area with the garage remaining operational.

Sounds that way and probably needs to for logistical purposes of construction. I'll be looking forward to seeing the design review application for the condo building.

I was by a little earlier today and noticed that they were starting to erect the base of the tower crane. I thought it was a little to soon for that. But I guess they are moving a little faster than I thought.

Looks like a boom crane like that was used to build RiverWalk was arriving on site today also. Pic taken yesterday:

Looking good! The final height of the crane is taller than I expected.

Here comes the questions as too whether this crane will stay up for all buildings on that site? Or will they use multiple cranes? Will hey build the hotel and then others after the need for the crane?

Depends on how quickly they're prepared and ready to move on the other buildings, in addition to the construction type. There's always the potential that the condo building could be wood construction.

Looking good! The final height of the crane is taller than I expected.

The Embassy Suites building will be 10 levels (as viewed from across the river), which will likely make it taller than the other RiverPlace buildings.
