Saw this interesting article about Allegiant Air's new pricing idea: http://seattletimes....onairfares.html

Basically, they want to offer the option of variable priced tickets where the final price depends on the price of jet fuel at the time of the flight. If you choose that option and gas prices fall, you win. If prices rise, you're hit with a surcharge. I'm personally not crazy about the whole idea.

Southwest certainly seems to be making an impact at GSP. Passenger numbers for March were just released and they show a 38.4% increase! :yahoo: Thanks to Skyliner for calling this out in another forum. GSP just posted this latest passenger number info on their Facebook page.

Has any of the construction started yet at GSP? I haven't flown into the area for several months and was curious of the changes that were posted in the master plan. If anyone wants to post pics please do.

Construction won't start on the project for another six months-year sadly.

And you thought March was a big month. :shok::blink: Preliminary numbers indicate GSP traffic was up a mind boggling 48% in April 2011 compared to April 2010 according to the airport's Facebook and Twitter pages.

Vision to add direct (same plane) service from Greenville-Spartanburg to Knoxville: http://www.foxcaroli..._medium=twitter and http://www.wyff4.com...636/detail.html Was hoping the Vegas service would be direct too...oh well. Neither one is non-stop and both are via Destin sadly.

So, I have to fly to Destin to get to Knoxville? That makes zero sense when you can drive there in 3 hours.

Vision won't be around as airline very long IMO....maybe a charter, but not a scheduled carrier. First they were doing the Allegiant model when they launched.....all nonstop service to Destin, with no connections....point to point. They've realize Destin does not have enough O&D passengers, so they are changing the model to be a hub / spoke to help fill the planes outbound from Destin. Problem is, the schedules / times don't match up very well, like they would in a true hub, so you are getting these strange connections like GSP to TYS. It is all about utilizing the aircraft better and not really much about demand for city pairs. Not very forward thinking.

It definitely sounds like Vision Airlines is circling the drain.

As predicted, seems Vision is starting to retrench. They are dropping service to numerous cities by fall.....Vision will pull out of Greenville, Columbia, Huntsville, Baton Rouge and other cities. I give this airline until December 31 before its gone.

Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport commissioners have selected Skanska/Moss/Roebuck as the general contractor of the $100 million terminal renovation and expansion project, subject to successful completion of fee negotiations. If negotiations can’t be completed with Skanska/Moss/Roebuck, the airport will turn to the second-ranked construction management firm, Austin/Shelco, and finally the third-ranked, Yeargin/Hunt/US&S. Construction to start in Fall 2012. Article from the Greenville News: http://business.greenvilleonline.com/content/story/2339/gsp-selects-general-contractor-for-terminal-project/
