I was  in Norfolk this weekend to attend a funeral.  I walked around Downtown in all the heat and humidity.  Here are some of the pics I took while I was down there.  Its a shame that Scope and Chrysler Hall look so shabby.  Both buildings need a good scrubbing.

Visited Norfolk for Labor Day weekend.  I traveled down using Amtrak and brought my bike aboard.  Did some riding around Norfolk, ERT, some of the bike-laned streets, and hit up some restaurants and breweries along the way.  It was fun to experience Norfolk this way, as I've never considered it a "bike city."   It really was a pleasant experience, until I rode out to the airport to pick up a rental car for a side-trip to the OBX.   That was legit dangerous lol.

What are the droe regulations and rules for flying out there? I have a drone for picture taking, but I never tried doing it Downtown yet.

You have to be a certain distance from military bases and airports. There are certain parts of the area where you can’t fly at all without prior clearance from the FAA. This was one of the few spots downtown where I could fly without clearance.

REDO: I have done some photography work in the Downtown Area of Norfolk I hope you guys enjoy. 

We all have seen Norfolk Downtown pictures, however I favor a style of photography that goes from small to large. I like to see the smaller buildings build up to bigger buildings on the horizon and im proud to share some photos (Which are unedited at the moment) that I took in Downtown Norfolk. 

Yes, I took pictures of random things too. 

This was all taken day before yesterday, afternoon.

Hello Norfolk visiting up from Charlotte for the first time in about 20 years I think.  Been a long time. Waterside Marketplace was booming back then and the MacArthur Mall was new and bustling.   Several new hotels and lots more residential downtown which is great.  Couple new office towers too.   And the Scope still stands.    Great to see older buildings being converted to residential too.  My initial thoughts you have a good base but need more housing downtown maybe convert older office towers.   But saw lots of newer condos, townhomes, apartments right by downtown on the water in that Freemason neighborhood.   Lots of photos but hey I am a tourist!

Couple of shots from late today.  There was a baseball game, the wine festival going on downtown.   It seemed pretty busy.

This is actually Chesapeake, but I flew my drone earlier to get aerials for a client. I was pretty impressed when I saw downtown Norfolk in the distance. With everything happening in Fort Norfolk, the city's gaining a really nice skyline. Now if only we could get some major developments in downtown proper...we're loooooooong overdue. The last tower was The Main, six years ago.

Another drone shot for a condo I shot yesterday (the red and white building in the foreground). I always love the view of downtown from Ghent/Fort Norfolk. It makes the city look so much bigger.  And yes, the Tide rolling through the shot was intentionally timed.
